Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a progressive neurological disease.

PD occurs due to degeneration of dopamine producing neurons within the substantia nigra of the basal ganglia.

Reduced dopamine disrupts voluntary movement control.

The main movement problems are;

Rigidity

Slow movement (Bradykinesa)

Resting Tremor

Postural instability

Signs and Symptom

In early stage, symptoms are usually mild and affects one side of the body which often goes unnoticed initially.

The symptoms are;

Reduced arm swing

Slow walking

Small handwriting

In mid stage, symptoms becomes more noticeable and start to impact daily activities and independence.

The symptoms are;

Balance deficits

Freezing episodes

Increased rigidity

Reduced mobility

In advanced stage, symptoms significantly affect functions.Higher risks of implications.

The symptoms are;

Dysphagia

Falls risk

Cognitive imbalance.
