The Unseen created the first mortal who was tasked to name the other beings created by Him. Now the Mortal was alone and with no companion. There was a deep sleep and a new mortal appeared seen as the Bone of my bone. They fell for the deceit of the serpent and down they were banished to earth with each carrying their own fated curse.
Along with the banishment, sin came into the world to disrupt and create chaos.
There are seven deadly sins-
Superbia, Avaritia, Luxuria,Invidia, Gula,Ira and Acedia.
Superbia- Pride, excessive belief in one's abilities. In the world today, people tend to believe one self and their might. But one thing is clear your might can fail you, your brain can fail you, trust in not your understanding but that of the Lord. Replace Pride with humility, be humble like the Prince of Peace.
Avaritia - Greed, excessive desire for wealth or possession. There is the saying that money is the root of all evil. It is the urge to have money, wealth or possession that is why in the world today there is more money ritual, the killings just to be rich.
Luxuria- Lust, excessive sexual desire. Mind you that there is the lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh in which it makes us do the unbelievable things in the world , we have to be control the sexual urge and be chastised.
Invidia- Envy, resentment of others possessions or qualities. It is been jealous of the things one have or the qualities that makes one successful. Instead of celebrating with someone on their success, you are busy conspiring against the person. Replace Envy with Kindness. Be kind to others
Gula- Gluttony, overindulgence, especially in food or drink. I am not shocked that this new generation has turned the meaning of glutton to foodie. A softer version. Gluttony is still a sin. Eating and drinking anything they find, always giving into one's flesh. Feed not your flesh but thy spirit. Have the spirit of temperance.
I remember last session they usually talk to us about temperance, temperance.
Ira- Wrath, uncontrolled anger or rage. I feel that someone has to be able to control oneself and be calm. Anytime you feel that you are getting angry or irritated, just breathe in and out , replace it with patience, meekness and calmness.
Acedia- Sloth, laziness or spiritual apathy. One thing in this life, people are roaming with the sin of sloth and it is ruining the word today. Majority are jobless and lazy to do something. Rather they will choose to steal or kidnap. That is why we are hearing about kidnappings majorly in Nigeria because majority are jobless, in a way it is not their fault because the system is corrupt. There is forgery in today time. Swearing falsely under affidavit for someone age. The older people of sixty seven, seventy years old reduces their age just to remain in power and enjoy the benefits meanwhile the new generation and others have to suffer terribly and in another way, it is the sloth fault because you decided not to work while you are reaping the progress that you don't sow. That is why there is Boko Haram, minor kidnappings in exchange for ransom in order for the lives of the victims to be saved. Bullocks I must say and pardon my language, everyone is equally at fault. There's spiritual apathy, not caring about the spiritual things, been nonchalant. Feed your spirit. Be diligent in your doings and the Lord will bless the work of your hands.
Mind you there are other sins like Blasphemy the greatest sin and unforgivable sin. It is the willful rejection of the works of the Holy Spirit and testimony of the Prince of Peace.
I remember last week Sunday, my Vicar, God bless Him, he said this world is temporary and we will later go home when we are done here. We have a home in heaven prepared for us. Provided we follow the heavenly virtues and the teachings of the Prince of Peace
