Pan-Africanism if you care to know is a worldwide movement, belief and ideology that encourages solidarity, unity and oneness alongside political freedom for all people of African descent.
It was championed globally by W.E.B. Du Bois while Kwame Nkrumah, yeah you heard that right, was and is still referred as the father of African Pan-Africanism.
In better and simpler language, it is a movement for black liberation and unity throughout the world, especially due to the fact that we've been through slave trade, sexual exploitation, racism, colonization and now neo-colonization.
The movement was and is still a very active one.
However, the question above is a very sensitive one and here we must be brutal but tread with caution. Pan-Africanism will still work, but the issues I'm about to point out must be seriously addressed.
The first is xenophobic attacks and intra-racism. Why would South Africans be biting the hands that fought for their freedom and aided in freeing them? As we speak, the blood of thousands of Nigerians cry against them, and more will still spill if care is not taken. How can we call ourselves African people and we eat ourselves up like fire does to meat in a barbecue. This must seriously be addressed.
Moving on, our regional and continental organizations must be reinforced because to a lot of African nations, they remain toothless bulldogs and lack real power. These states that don't respect them cannot be blamed; it is because that they've seen that the people made presidents of such institutions are doing a really bad job at home. Someone that cannot lead a country should not be entrusted with a large confederate.
Pressing on, African states should help each other more financially, economically by collaborating and selling and facilitating trade to neighboring states, security wise through peacekeeping missions and security operations. This is something I have to say Nigeria has to be credited for doing this for her fellow African states.
Furthermore, we must preserve our culture and history in everything we do as a continent, in our music, football competitions, movies and so on.
Finally, in a bid to unite ourselves more, we can have visas for African states at a discounted rate and easily available, a stable continental and regional currency, multinational power plants, railroads and infrastructural developments.
In a bid to achieve the aims of the movement which is to encourage and strengthen bonds of solidarity between all indigenous peoples of Africa along with all people of African descent, we must strive to achieve all these to glue together all the broken pieces and hold our continent together.
