How will life be after university?, Where will I do my youth service, how will I have a successful career, how do I manage my money and expend well, when will I buy that first car, when will I get married, and so many others.
I understand, I gave thought about all that and so many more because very very soon in only a matter of time a lot of us will move into higher levels and leave the university whether we like it or not, we all talk about the joys of graduation and convocation but how many of us have actually thought of a life plan and a method of survival after this degree? The honest answer for most young individuals is no.
Why is this? , it is something I'd like to term as the procastinative mentality of the average young person, we basically hate to think of things that will stress out brains, make us feel sad or depressed or make us start doubting ourselves, dreams and judgements and that is totally understandable because I myself do that a lot, but I don't allow it to stop me from being logical with my time and future because according to Ecclesiastics 3 there's a time and season for everything under the sun.
Also, I'm a strong advocate of planning and time management, however you plan and manage your time in school will determine your life after school eventually, take it or leave it. For instance, Sanusi is a law student, but instead of being serious and connecting while in school he's busy with Freefire and Call of Duty, he eventually manages to come out with a second class lower and he has no connections to take him to the right places, do you think his career will progress, definitely no, but what is unfortunate is that most of you are like Sanusi, you'll attend lectures, you'll leave immediately after and go back to pinging phones and watching TikTok a creating connections or building a business or lifeline to ensure for a smooth life outside school and remember life always favours the creators more than mere consumers, that one guy that was very quiet in class may eventually become a CEO or be well connected but you approaching him after graduation without a prior relationship is giving desperate beggar vibe.
The first piece of advise is to build yourself, nobody wants to roll with someone they cannot benefit from and that's the unsugar coated reality, attend webinars, listen to podcasts, develop new and positive habits that'll improve you and enable you to develop yourself, if you don't you'll remain stagnant and that leaves you in the worse levels of development.
Secondly, spread your tentacles, yes, but in the sense of connections, meet people that can actually change your story and the funny thing is you don't have to look too far, they are even in your class, in your hostel, in the school cafeteria. How do you get to meet them, have intentional and thoughtful conversations, build a meaningful relationship with them not just one that benefits you and you alone, be there for them when they need you the most.
Then, the other aspect if that, build on social platforms especially LinkedIn, most of my big time connections outside university, guess where we met, LinkedIn! Those that even when I'm at my lowest of lows still check up on me and care about me, if you're reading this guys please take your flowers.
Further, build a business while in school, this one is the surest life security plan, once you've built a business which is sustainable and scalable while also compounding, investing and having a solid financial management skill youre good to go, because ymthat degree does not guarantee a good future, even if it does it doesn't save you from the financial rat race that only salary earners are boxed in.
That then takes us to our financial management, the money we make from our ventures, our allowances, money not well spent is money not worth being earned and that alone is something that should stick with us, I know it's hard to save but when you remember the benefit it will do for your future self you should happily do it.

Finally, our relationship with God because without God we're nothing and we have only him to protect ourselves, if we don't have God in our lives while still in university where and when do we want to now have in. So let's serve him, not out of compulsion but from the depths of our hearts and live in his word and let him guide our lives.
