HIV/AIDS; THE STIGMA AND PAIN OF THE INFECTION, THAT POINTS BACK TO THE PHRASE IS PREVENTION BETTER THAN CURE.

I'm sure we've all heard about the infection HIV, yes that topic that they taught is in social studies that made us laugh that we called Human immune farus, yes but however when we get matured and develop in age we understand the severity of the situation and how its actually not funny.

Human immunodeficiency Virus otherwise known as HIV is a viral disease that infects and weakens the human immune system and breaks down the white blood cells if not quickly treated it transforms into Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, which is the highest level of the virus and it's really really serious when we think of it.

But how did we come about this dangerous infection, let me explain and take you on a long journey.

According to the The National Institutes of Health, the origins and evolution of these viruses, and the circumstances that led to the AIDS pandemic. Both HIVs are the result of multiple cross-species transmissions of simian immunodeficiency viruses (SIVs) naturally infecting African primates. Most of these transfers resulted in viruses that spread in humans to only a limited extent. However, one transmission event, involving SIVcpz from chimpanzees in southeastern Cameroon, and then AIDs which is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was first recognized as a new disease in 1981 when increasing numbers of young homosexual men succumbed to unusual opportunistic infections and rare malignancies.

Which takes us to the serious or social part of this article, how did we get to this stage especially in Africa and in Nigeria in particular where HIV/AIDS has become so rampant that if we check major cities in Nigeria we would discover patients of this disease in hundreds or even thousands.

I mean, they are many methods of spreading the disease from one person to another like sharing razors, clippers and sharp objects without sterilizing them, saliva, sweat and so many more but guess the most common one, yes you guessed right sexual intercourse.

Now I'm not against Sexual it was actually part of an Institution which is marriage by God to procreate and keep the human populace alive but when it gets perverted and misused it gives birth to issues like this, even the bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:18–20: "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body." I'm not a pastor yet, cause I mean God can call me at anytime but my problem is when young African youths who should be the architects of a renewed and developed Africa are goofing around and jeopardizing their futures only for a few minutes of pleasure.

Everyone loves pleasure, everyone wants to enjoy but when it gets dangerous you can never chose the consequences.

Prevention is always better than cure especially in an oblivious African and Nigerian setting which stigmatizes patients of those diseases and the pain of knowing what you were capable of doing, knowing your potential and then not just failing to live up to it but killing it with your own actions, this isn't a mere article, it's a call to responsibility and caution to stay motion inclined and focused don't get distracted and overridden by pleasure
