As a bro, networking is something that I cannot emphasize enough, in my opinion networking can put you in settings and places where a degree cannot take you. I'm not saying you should stop schooling, please don't get me wrong.
School is a good thing but networking puts you in the right places and helps you to scale large altitudes in life.
My advice to start networking from scratch is to first of all have an open mind, in my secondary school, I was one of the most timid and shyest people you could come across, fast forward many years later I'm one of the most eloquent people in the room the more vocal you are the more your value radiates and then you attract good people that want to develop with you and network with you to put me on.
Secondly, put yourself out there, no one will find you in your closed shell, putting yourself out there doesn't just expose you to opportunities and networks but helps shape more informed opinions about life in general.
The out there I'm referring to are so many places: the gym, social events, joining a club in your faculty, attending seminars, via LinkedIn etc.
Further, if you are still a Uni student, I advise that you start early and optimize tools like LinkedIn and other reliable platforms to network and build a professional presence, it is also advisable you network with professionals who are still in their early years at the time you're in uni so that they can recommend you for employment or influence those decisions in your favour.
Finally, ensure that you follow up with the people you've connected with, and I mean real check-ups, calls, messages etc., it's better you stay in touch with them and not just pop up only when you need a favour. Carry them along in your journey from leadership roles, career advisory talks on life issues and so on.
My brothers, let's take our professional lives seriously. See y'all at the top.
