MY CUSTOMIZED TED TALK FOR BROS
I am very sure we're all aware of the Elephant in the room in the Nigerian HipHop Scene and its toll in the industry. I know Indigenius is not the best place for talking or delving deep into this typeof things especially to launch a new series, but I have serious points to draw out from it.
Blaqbonez and Odumodu's Beef to me is one of the most unnecessary ones in the industry of all time considering the course, and it shows how romantic relationships that went complex ruins relationships between friends, my father warned and continues to warn that I should never allow a woman to allow me to ruin and stop another brother's bag or fight over a woman because as far as the relationship is concerned, at that point you're the best option, the only option or just a mere option.
One thing I want all young men to get clear is that no lady is ever permanent in your life because of ties in a relationship. Every person has past history and it's easier for ladies to seemingly have more and get over it because from what I've seen most ladies walk out of a relationship with a backup plan, the worst thing you can do about this is then understanding this concept and you go ahead and fight or pull your brother down over a flawed relationship. No, to me that's insanity! Understanding love is blind, but as a young man we have to stay woke.
This reminds me about something that happened in 200 level second semester, I just came off a very successful first semester and I was preparing to re-run for my Senate House Seat. The Senate President at the time intended that we bring in Senators from 100 level and as the Senate Clerk at the time I was in charge of following up the forms, conducting their elections and initiating the follow up and announcement flyer.
Then I met her, She the candidate with the highest votes, she was really pretty, intelligent—I mean, everything I wanted in a woman. She ticked all my boxes and she was a blessing from God, however I got to discover she was just another lesson.
We started talking, I initiated the conversation and unfortunately and fortunately for me, it did not work out largely because of me because the whole thing was giving "Mount Zion movie " relationship. I only gave short past questions, talked about academic stuff, and she also gave me one-word replies when I sent paragraphs. My guys banked me, they used it to joke and it's normal for guys. Later, I got to discover she was dating a coursemate of mine, he was not really a tight guy, and it was while we were still talking! One of my friends told me the situation and I did one of the most mature things a man can ever do: I overlooked it and wished them the best. She and that guy's relationship did not see the end of the semester and now she's with another one of my guys, this time a really tight friend, and we became closer last session.
Now, imagine what would have been my lot if I fought a brother over the lady? Yes, you guessed right, it would be disastrous; I would have severely ruined my reputation and my credibility with and amongst guys and I would have been ostracized and segregated by my close and distant guys.
Nobody is permanent in your life so when you fight over a romantic relationship or worse a lady that your only her best option or just a mere option in her life, remember that go-around and the temporary partner may not be together forever, and the brotherhood will never forget that betrayal. Intact, in my own opinion, if you want someone, be ready to turn a blind eye to their past, before you go all in make inquiries from your guys, and never get too attached to the extent that you are blinded from reality and you wind up doing things you'll regret.
Peace out, brothers!
